Dear David and Karen: Thank you for presenting "Managing Stress and Conflict in the Workplace" at our annual Teamsters Assistance Program (TAP) conference. We are seeing a critical need for stress and anger management tools in the workplace. Our people are often are involved in extreme conflict situations, when members' jobs are threatened and tempers are high. This conference was an opportunity to give our employer and business representatives hands-on conflict management skills - both for themselves and the people they serve. Your program was extremely helpful for our people - just what they needed. Real conflict management begins with gaining skills in self-mastery, which is the heart of your program. Then our reps are in a much better position to calm down a highly charged situation and find solutions that work for everyone involved. I received very positive feedback afterwards, and the ratings were almost all excellent. Even the participants who are usually "prickly" and hard to satisfy were pleased with the program. I spoke to the group afterwards, and encouraged everyone to bring this program to their companies. I wasn't just being nice to you. If even 10% of a workplace can learn the stress management and conflict management skills you teach, it would make a real difference in the workplace.
